About Me Part 2 and My First Attemp to Online Marketing

All you need to know about me part 2 and the history of the site manager of Uganda visit and travel guide.com website.

Living in a 3rd world country where internet was more or less of a dream hindered my early take off. It was not until the year 2002 that internet was available for public use in Uganda. But still it was expensive.

In 2005 a joined a university for my degree and that’s when I lean,t much about net marketing. By the end of my final year I was ready to venture in this business. I started by purchasing some programs on the net which promised heaven on earth but turned into real bogus. In short, I lost a lot my salary buying junk programs.

But I new that some where somehow, there must be the way out.In 2006 I was given a job as a depot manage for spirits in Western Uganda and that made me redundant as the station was not very busy. I had to go for the cybercafe everyday to search more on this net business.

In 2007 the station was closed and that rendered me jobless but as a disguised blessing, I had saved some money and sold my vehicle to start my net business.

I had to look for the best place where I can sit and learn more about net marketing. I got quite discouraged, but STILL believed this was achievable and was still determined to start an online business. So I went searching for even more information that would teach me exactly how to do this.

I wanted to learn how to build not just a website, but a business, and one that would work and give me long-term success. I wanted to learn how to do this - I didn't want someone else to do it for me.

And I certainly didn't want to buy a website template and simply insert my name and then call it my site. If you've ever done a search for "start an online business" or "build your own website" or "make a website", you know that the internet is FLOODED with information on how to do this. However, you may have discovered, like me, that a lot of this information comes from companies keen to take your money - but no back-up to helping you build a solid, successful website.

But I continued to believe this was the way forward and was determined to succeed and do this "online thing" the right way. I continued my research looking for that company or person or system that would enable me to achieve my goal of running my own successful internet business. I had already spent and wasted lots of money, but my determination, continued research and patience led me to a company called Site Build It! (SBI).

Site Build It!

First Cut

I had to buy 10 computers and open the cybercafé for business. This helped me because I new if I have no business and no job means that I will not manage to pay for the internet and that mean that with in 4 months I will be no more. This cybercafé was not profitable but was able to pay for internet services, electricity, rent and my personal upkeep. In short I was not saving anything apart from building my websites.

But now, having learned from some of my previous mistakes, I found that SBI seemed to plug all the missing gaps in my knowledge and understanding. It wasn’t just a ‘hosting’ company, but they provided all the learning tools, resources and materials I needed to build my site and my business, from getting the right keywords, to ensuring ways of monitizing!! They also sort out all the frightening technical stuff.
