Choose The best birding Gear for Your Uganda Bird Vacation

Birding takes patience when you first start and that's where the best birding gear comes in. It can be difficult to get a good enough look at a bird to figure out what kind of bird you’re looking at.

It takes time but like any hobby the more time you put into it the better the results. We have mustered up some advice for the new birder and we hope you stay with it! Birding can be rewarding when you figure out how to do it. Birding doesn't take dressing up in a bird costume to participate. So hang in there.Having the right gear for bird watching can some times make or break a trip.

As we all know a nice sunny day can quickly change into to rainy day and like most die hard birders… Rain or Shine. So make sure you go out with all the gear you need for any kind of condition. We have compiled a list of gear any avid birder should invest in, so weather doesn't have to dictate whether you have a good trip or not.

water resistant pouches

Keeping your maps and birding logs dry and clean is always difficult but with these water resistant pouches its a little easier to keep organized. In aplace like Mt Rwenzori national park where it is ever raining. you must have the water resistant gear for a perfect birding vacation.Click here for more information on Rwenzori National Park

Hiking boots

Most of the best places to go bird watching take a bit of a climb to get to. Hiking boots or a good pair of trail shoes is a most. Part of birding involves a little mud on the boots. This happens especially when you take up hiking and birding in Mt Rwenzori mountains. Click here for more information in Uganda

comfortable pack

Any time you go on the trail it’s a good idea to bring supplies: water, munchies, and rain gear. A comfortable pack to carry all that gear is a key. Make sure you have the right size pack for the right trip.

Rain jacket

It's always a relief when it starts to rain and you remembered to pack your "just in-case" rain jacket. It's so nice to be able to enjoy your birding trip even if you get caught in a rainstorm. But you can time to go for birding when there is a dry season.Click here for more information on Uganda climate and seasons

A first aid kit

It's inevitable as a birding gear.. But at least you can be prepared for those splinters, blisters, map cuts, head aches, and well just about every thing that could happen. A first aid kit is always a good idea.
