Summary of Discovering Great Parks of Tanzania:

This safari takes you through the highlights of the unrivaled parks of northern Tanzania. It starts with overnight in Arusha before tackling great parks such as Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Serengeti and winding up with Lake Manyara.

Tarangire is a unique combination of stunning nature, wildlife and accommodation. From here, drive to Serengeti, probably the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world. It is a big game haven that also hosts over 3 million large mammals!

From Serengeti, drive onwards to Ngorongoro Crater, a unique conservation area that is a must visit. The Ngorongoro supports an amazing year round resident population of a variety of wildlife.

It is arguably one of the best places to pitch camp for wildlife viewing because of it’s diversity in wildlife and is one of the wonders of the natural world.

Your tour then closes at Lake Manyara National Park, an ornithologists’ paradise that is also noted for the elusive tree-climbing lions. Your stay is in top class accommodation throughout the safari.

Itinerary of Discovering Great Parks of Tanzania :

Day 1: ARRIVE IN ARUSHA

Arrive at JRO to be met by our representative and transferred to Arusha.

Overnight on Bed & Breakfast at Impala Hotel

Day 2: ARUSHA - TARANGIRE

After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park arriving in time for lunch and an afternoon of game viewing.

Lesser Kudu, eland, lion and Gerenuk can be found in this beautiful park, noted for its multitude of baobab trees and its tree-climbing lions.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge or tented camp - Tarangire Sopa or similar

Day 3: TARANGIRE - NGORONGORO

After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area Arriving in time for lunch at the lodge.

In the afternoon you will descend 2000 feet (over 600 meters) to the floor of the crater for a half-day crater tour.

Explore the forest areas that are inhabited by monkeys and elephants; the lake area, where you may see the flamingos and the open Savannah where the lions hunt for food.

Day 4: NGORONGORO - SERENGETI

From Ngorongoro, drive to Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge, the site of Louis and Mary Leakey’s renowned archaeological discoveries. Their findings include some of the man’s earliest known ancestral remains.

Lunch is at your lodge in Serengeti. You will have an afternoon game drive in the endless plains of the Serengeti for a chance to see the great herds of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles or a pride of lions lounging in the shade.

Day 5: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Spend a full day of game viewing in the Serengeti.

Serengeti national park briefsThe name Serengeti comes from a Maasai language word meaning endless plains.

The park is as big as Northern Ireland, its ecosystem, which includes the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the Maswa Game Reserve and Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve.

It lies between the shores of Lake Victoria in the west, Lake Eyasi in the South, and the Great Rift Valley to the East.

As such, it offers the most complex and least disturbed ecosystem on earth.

A unique combination of diverse habitats enables it to support more than 30 species of the large herbivores and nearly 500 species of birds.

Day 6: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Spend another interesting day of game viewing across the terrains of Serengeti National Park.

Serengeti is the Tanzania’s oldest and most famous wildlife sanctuary, and has been selected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Predictably the most popular of the country’s parks, Serengeti is home to an unbelievable count of animals championed by the ’Big Five’, numerous plains species and other large mammals.

Day 7: SERENGETI - LAKE MANYARA

Enjoy an early morning game drive, before breakfast at the Serengeti.

Return to the lodge for late breakfast. Enjoy the mid morning game viewing as you depart to Ngorongoro Highlands. Lunch is at Gibbs Farm or similar, followed by an afternoon visit to the waterfalls.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge in Manyara - Lake Manyara Serena or similar

Day 8: LAKE MANYARA - ARUSHA / AIRPORT for departure

After breakfast, you will have a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park whose inhabitants include hippos, monkeys, tree climbing lions, flamingos and other varieties of bird life.

Enjoy a sumptuous lunch at Lake Manyara Hotel / Lodge. After lunch, drive back to Arusha and proceed to JRO for departure flight in the evening.

When arranging for your international air tickets, note that it is usually cheaper to disembark at Nairobi in Kenya.

You then take a shuttle bus to Arusha at a cost of US$ 20. This shuttle bus leaves at 0800 and 1400 hrs daily from either Nairobi or Arusha. The drive takes 5 hours. If you wish to make use of this option, please indicate so.
