Fairmont Mara Safari Club is location in the Mara game reserve. It is the best for spotting Cheetah and they can guarantee it. The Hotel is a comfortable stay and very homely for families with a nice central lobby with a huge fireplace for the cold nights.
Every evening, the local tribe's people come and perform their dance which is truly unique and wonderful. The hotel is just a good spot to be in when the reserve is closed to the public. Take your camera, but take care; the place is notorious for Wild Buffalo Attacks.
Tents are lovely. Beds are comfortable, furniture beautiful and tent properly sealed so no unwelcome insects/animals can get in at night. Yes, you can hear hippos, monkeys and birds at night but it shouldn't matter really as the wonderful sounds add to the enjoyment of the safari.
Food is ok. Parents won't have to worry about whether or not kids won't eat as the offering is broad enough to satisfy everyone.
Wow factor entrance lobby/ lounge area. The main communal area of the hotel is gorgeous, lots of leather sofas with a high vaulted ceiling. The outside decking area where you can have drinks and lunch overlooks the Mara river. Every so often you can hear a hippo or see one swimming down the river.
- The accommodation is in individual well spaced out tented lodges. They have a hard base with canvas sides and top. It does feel like you're camping, but very firmly in a lovely 4 poster bed. It is everything that you would hope for in a safari lodge.
The TENT WAS very well placed, clean, a shower room and loo, Hot water and electricity, Now that's what I call camping. The tent was on stilts with a nice decking area over looking the river. The Tents are situated well apart from each other in the grounds of the main Lodge.Click here for more information about Fairmont in Kenya
The Lodge is with a thatch roof and lots of beams, Dinning area ,Bar,Lounge with open fire and comfortable setting. The food was I think the best I have had in any Lodge over the years.Nothing was to much trouble to the the staff all of whom friendly and pleasant. The Safari's are with very good and experienced driver/guides, and they knew so much about the area.
