The Fairview Hotel Nairobi is situated in a very nice, leafy part of Nairobi known as Upperhill which is 5 minutes away from the center by taxi. But that 5 minutes feels like 30 since the hotel has large surrounding grounds with grass, trees and you have no sign or sound of the sometimes chaotic traffic that plagues Nairobi. 
Its also situated opposite the Israeli embassy and subsequently the street is known as "the safest street in Nairobi". If you're looking to be part of the hustle and bustle, this hotel is not for you. If you prefer things more relaxed and quiet then do not hesitate. There is a very nice pool area, a well equipped gym and generally the hotel has lots of nice places to hang out. The cafe in the front I found particularly pleasing. 
All in all, this hotel is great for business or for pleasure. I would have no hesitation staying here again, nor using it as a base for a family vacation in Kenya. I loved everything about the hotel: the layout, the facilities, the staff, the location, the food. Despite being close to the city centre, it's very peaceful. It's a 15 minute walk to Uhuru Park and the city centre. Clean rooms, very quite, lovely gardens with big pool, friendly staff. There is nothing else you could wish or ask for.
