Uganda's Four Star Hotels
On this page we listed the best Four Star Hotels in Uganda.
Our list doesn't contain all hotels in that category in Uganda, but we've selected those we would happily stay at, if we were tourists in our country.
Cassia Hotel
We stayed there for three days at this Cassia Lodge on Buziga Hill in Kampala. It has, bar none, been the best hotel experience we've ever had as far as its class is concerned. It's a new Hotel sitting on a hill overlooking Lake Victoria. There is a pool on the edge looking over the lake. It's built in true African style and has such a strong sense of character and uniqueness.
There are big round openings showing the view of the city and lake throughout the complex and every room faces the lake. The surroundings are simply breathtaking and I need to pause every time I pass it. The service is outstanding and we were especially impressed with the food. "It's the best local African food I have had on this continent".One of my friends said. My friends and I were especially enamored when we watched the chef come out of the kitchen and pick some green onions in the garden inside the hotel complex, and 20 minutes later we tasted an incredibly aromatic meal seasoned with fresh green onions.
It's been good value as well; we are paying $120/night for a spectacular room, gorgeous bathroom, all usual amenities. Bar and restaurant overlook the city and lake view and drinking wine with a fresh whole tilapia fish caught in lake Victoria is an unforgettable experience.
Recommended: for those who want to stay at a classy, traditional hotel with superior location and surroundings, and would love to combine wellness with sightseeing. Location Cassia Lodge is located off Gaba Road on Buziga Hill, one of the highest hills of Kampala close to Lake Victoria. The environment is cool with an astonishing view on the lake as well as the city and its suburbs.

Mweya Safari Lodge
Mweya Safari Lodge is a beautiful lodge located on a peninsula within the heart of the spectacular Queen Elizabeth National Park ideal for Uganda safaris travelers and visitors. Our stay at the Mweya Safari Lodge for two weeks ago was amazing! What a view on entering the lobby of the lodge across the lakes! Click here for more information about the Safari Lodges in Uganda
The patio with a magnificent view over the lakes was a favourite place for breakfast each morning and the colourful, twittering birds are so entertaining when a table was vacated! Unconcerned wart hogs and mongoose wandered the lawns adding to the feeling of nature at its best. The bedrooms are spacious with doors opening on to a patio with a lake view.
The feeling of space around the hotel and grounds was quite different from the more enclosed lodges of the jungles etc. The wildlife tour was enjoyable - the daily boat trip in the Kazinga Channel is not to be missed. We saw elephants, crocodiles, monitor lizards, hippos by the dozen, buffalo and literally hundreds of different birds. The scenery is magnificent. Well worth a visit.
Mweya Safari Lodge is spectacularly located with incredible reviews as far as the eye can see with the Mountains of the Moon visible on a clear day. The Lodge itself is tasteful decorated and the rooms are most comfortable. Service couldn't be better...the staff very friendly to kids. Food was good and the breakfasts worth a mention. The wildlife and birds are brilliant and uncommercialised (unlike most other African destinations). This, with the warmth and friendliness of all Ugandans across the country makes it a place and country to visit.
Location Mweya Safari Lodge is located on a peninsula within the heart of the spectacular Queen Elizabeth National Park. Accommodation • Luxurious rooms • Private showers. • Balconies • Electricity
Restaurant and Bar • Poolside bar • Tembo bar • Kazinga restaurant Facilities • Souvenir shop • Board room & conference room • Dstv & satellite Television
Jacan Safari Lodge
Originally we thought we were to be booked at Mweya Lodge since there are neighbours so at first we were disappointed, since we had stayed sometimes before at mweya safari lodge. Now, that we have spent two nights at Jacana, I'm happy that we were booked at Jacana one of Uganda's four star hotels. To reach Jacana, you travel down a track for several kilometers from the tarmac road, enter the Queen Elizabeth National Park gate, and then the Jacana gate. Upon arrival to the open-air reception area, we were greeted most professionally, offered cool hand towels and a complimentary drink. The hotel manager was the most professional we encounteredClick here for more information about transport in Uganda
Unlike Mweya, which is perched on an outcrop overlooking the Kazinga channel in wide-open spaces, Jacana is privately nestled in the woods overlooking a crater lake. While not as conveniently located for a game drive and certainly not the Kazinga Channel boat cruise, which leaves from Mweya, it is still certainly close enough. It is also closer to Ishasha if you wish to see tree climbing lions, and very close the Kyambura Gorge where you can do a chimp walk in a stunning, and very unique, setting. The lodge itself is a series of open-air structures overlooking the Crater Lake. There is a bar with a small, but decent choice of wines, both boxed and bottled. There you can sip a very cold beer and recount your wildlife adventures while observing the lake. There is also a restaurant which shares the view of the lake and the Jacana pool. And while you're eating you may see baboons and vervet monkeys. The food was above average with mild curry sauces and a full choice of entrees.
Dessert was good, too. A unique feature at Jacana is a small floating structure on which you can have the staff steer you to the middle of the lake and have dinner. We didn't do this, but it looks like fun. Between the bar and the restaurant is a gathering area, complete with a large fireplace that is lends itself to conversation, card-playing or book reading. We conversed with the Manager and the Marketing Director, both of whom were friendly and interesting. The owner was also present during our visit, but we didn't get to chat with him. If we had, I would tell him that the atmosphere at Jacana is one of relaxed comfort combined with professional service. Sure there is limited hours for electricity and the hot water is fueled by outdoor wood-burning furnaces. The electricity was there for us to charge our computer and camera batteries in the morning and in the night, the hot water was consistent as the staff kept the fire burning, and the weather was perfectly cool so our stay was great.
The rooms are individual octagonal stilted-structures, each overlooking the Crater Lake. They are spacious and blend well with the environment.
They are windows are well-protected from the resident baboons and other wildlife and you're advised to keep your door shut and locked for the same reason! Each of our two cabana rooms featured a sitting area with two chairs and a table from which you can read and/or converse while viewing the lake. The bathroom facilities were well equipped and everything worked properly. We had some laundry done here and everything came back dry and folded. It was reasonably priced. At night after dinner, there was a performance of drumming and dancing which was fascinating and thrilling with a couple of the lads walking on their hands around the fire pit.
Unfortunately, we were so tired we could only stay for two songs. They were very good, though. There is a swimming pool just down the stairs from the restaurant and bar and, it looked clean and comfortable. Another great place to relax, too. If you're looking for more European luxury at Queen Elizabeth National Park , you may want to consider Mweya. If you're looking for something just a bit more adventerous, but certainly a far cry from camping or over landing, we would recommend Jacana every time.
Location. Set on the edge of a Crater Lake, this tree house lodge grew out of the forest, at one with nature. The delicate use of local rock, gum poles, wood, rope, organic furniture and rich textures blend with forest smells, a crackling fire conjuring a magical atmosphere to remember. Accommodation • Seven luxury chalets. • Unique theme of their own • Spacious and designed. • Running showers and flushing toilets • Furnished and have a superb • Enclosed veranda with large panoramic windows Facilities • The Virunga Lounge, • Huge fireplace. • dinning room and the main bar • 'Tembo Bar,' • 'Fish Eagle Bar' and a jetty
