Giraffe Manor Nairobi Hotel

Travel Business

SBI!

I booked one night at the Giraffe Manor Nairobi hotel as a special treat for my girlfriend, as she was celebrating a 'special' Birthday and is totally bonkers about Giraffes. This was the start of a week long Safari and a 'Chill Out' break in Kenya.

Out of all the amazing things we did and saw on our trip the stand out memory was our stay at the Giraffe Manor Nairobi hotel. Our hosts Marianne and Rudy could not have made us feel anymore welcome, their staff were all equally amazing, keeping us supplied with cool drinks and the evening meal in the candle lit dining room, was the best we ate all trip.

Stayed in a bedroom which was delightful and totally in keeping with the style of this fantastic house.

The family portrait gallery in the main hall is very interesting and Marianne spent time with us and some after dinner drinks, explaining who was who and how the Manor came about. We continued this conversation out on the terrace and even late into the evening the Giraffes come up to say 'hello'.

After a very peaceful and comfortable nights sleep we had a breakfast to die for and again were greeted by the Giraffes who put their long necks through the windows. As Marianne said 'what you see on Web sites is not a staged photo shoot' they actually do this, each morning - ever eaten your breakfast with a Giraffe.

Giraffe Manor Nairobi hotel is a one of a kind place and if you are an animal lover and happen to be in Besides the Giraffes there are a few other constants at the Manor that make it a very special place. The communal dining is a lovely experience, the food was terrific and the new hosts, Rudy & Mary Anne, go out of their way to make sure everyone feels welcome. Breakfast was, as always, unforgettable.

Here are a few tips:

(1) Try to get a room on the second floor....nothing beats a morning welcome from Kelly or Lynn right in the window,

(2) Plan to make a post-breakfast visit to the Animal Orphanage followed by a visit to the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage (open to the public between 11-12 each day), both are only a few minutes away,

(3) Ask for some lunch recommendations, the Giraffe Manor Nairobi hotel is in a beautiful area and there are many little shops and cafes nearby.A trip to Giraffe Manor is an experience that will never be forgotten and remember, Giraffe spit is good for you!!
