We spent three nights here to round off our safari. The room was excellent with views out across the Mara and wildlife often literally just outside the window or door! The birdlife in the grounds was fabulous and the hippo pool gave an excellent opportunity to view these enormous creatures at close quarters.
Sometimes maybe a bit too close as we did encounter two on our walk back to our room from the restaurant one night!Of course the Mara is rightly renowned for its wildlife and it didn't disappoint especially with the wildebeast migration in full swing when we were there.
We also had some surprising and quite close encounters with lions whilst out in the bush, while one family group of elephants came so close to us we could have reached out and touched them. All mind-blowing experiences in this absolutely fantastic country!Click here fo more information about Keekorok Safari Lodge in Masai Mara Park in Kenya
Keekorok Lodge Masai Mara rooms are very well finished with nice African touches. Bed are great with excellent mosquito net, bathroom is good also. Our room was facing the grassed area where Hippos often come at night to feed as well as the occasional visiting elephant or troop of baboons.
Amazing! I've never before been to such an awesome hotel as this. The location was breathtaking, the scenery stunning and the animals, well they take your breath away.Keekorok is a fantastic lodge that provides it all, great food, great company and great settings. The rooms are perfect, very African. Overall I couldn't wish for anything better.
One thing I loved the first time was seeing the zebras wandering through the grounds at night. This hasn't changed; the Keekorok grass must be pretty tasty! I woke up at nearly 4am the first morning, looked out of my window and saw impala sitting around on the grass outside. I went back to bed but didn't fall asleep before hearing chomping noises. I looked out again and found 3 zebra right by my veranda having a snack on the lawn
The food in the restaurant was quite okay. Lunch was slightly more limited but there was plenty of choice at dinner, with meat and fish dishes, curries, vegetarian options, rice or potatoes. Breakfast was great, with beef and pork bacon, the same with the sausages (so catering for the Muslim guests), tomatoes, eggs how you wanted then, etc. Toast was brought to the table, so much better than those interminable waits at the communal toaster.Keekorok Lodge Masai Mara shop is huge, selling a variety of souvenirs, bags, t-shirts, and so much more. I wouldn't say it was cheap but the selection is vast.
Rooms are very comfortable, a king size bed in some, others had twins, maybe with an extra bed. There was a lobby area outside the bathroom door where you found the wardrobe, dressing table and luggage rack.
While you are out on your late afternoon game drive the beds are turned down and the mosquito nets put round. There is a lockable drawer in the wardrobe, probably okay for locking away camera equipment but I wouldn't personally have liked to have left money/passports in there. You can get a safe at reception for 150 Kshs per day and you have free access to it at any time.Wish you well with your Safari vacation at Keekorok Lodge Masai Mara in Kenya
