Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge Tsavo
With a watering hole that overlooks Mt Kilamanjaro and is lit all night, Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge Tsavo rates as one of the best for sure. I understand that all Serena lodges are very good but this is my only experience. 
Our room was one of the original 1960's rooms and has only been lightly modernised. There are newer rooms (including 4 suites) but they do not have the same view of the water hole from your balcony. Considering that you don't spend much time in your room, this isn't a big problem. 
This was our last stop on a 3-night safari and we absolutely fell in love with this place. An amazing room layout together with an excellent main hotel area with a great verandah and dining room.
The waterhole here attracted so many animals and the noise during the night was amazing - you really have no reason to sleep. 
Zebra, buffalo, giraffe, marabou and monkeys all gather round this waterhole and I am sure if you stayed up all night you would witness a kill. We were woken up to the sound of buffalo scratching against rocks under our bedroom window and saw monkeys on balconies going in and out of empty rooms - what fun! An amazing place. 
Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge Tsavo was the first lodge ever to be built in a Kenya National Park and is superbly situated in the lee of Mount Kilimanjaro, encircled by volcanic splendour, adjacent to a teeming water hole and daily visited by vast herds of elephant, buffalo and plains game.
Inspirationally positioned so that not only all the rooms but also the open-air restaurant, timbered game-viewing decks and rock-built bar enjoy uninterrupted views of the legendary snows of Kilimanjaro.The Lodge also stands central to miles of lion-stalked grasslands, elephant studded plains and wildlife-teeming bush and is ideally placed for visits to all the park's prime attractions.
Suites are cool, tranquil and hushed for optimum game-viewing the open-air dining area, timbered decks and rock-hewn bar blend the traditional "khaki-and-canvas" look with bright-painted banners, sepia-hued paintings and evocative olive-wood carvings of elephant herds and tail-erect wart hogs.
The elegantly renovated rooms draw on a sun-gold, sky-blue and bush-green savannah colour palette and have been so styled to provide world-class luxury and an ideal African aura whilst featuring private verandas with views of eternity. The traditionally thatched, breeze-cooled dining room overlooks Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge Tsavo action-packed water hole.
