Kunduchi Beach Hotel and Resort Dar Es Salaam

Travel Business

SBI!

I attended a workshop at the Kunduchi Beach Hotel and Resort Dar Es Salaam. Conference facilities are good (WLAN available free in the conference rooms!) and come in several sizes and designs. There were several other conferences going on, so the hotel was full.

But it was not crowded, since the lay-out is spacious. Staff was very friendly –it felt “genuine” and fairly efficient. Management was not in an “ivory tower” but visible and kept in touch with the participants and organizers.

I felt this was almost exceptional, since I have the experience in other hotels that it often takes an act of Parliament to talk to a manager and they only come reluctantly.

Some of our work group-sessions took place on the beach or in the open lobby with a fresh breeze coming in from the sea instead of the provided room which gave some added value to atmosphere of the workshop.

The location of Kunduchi Beach Hotel and Resort Dar Es Salaam is great, with an exceptional good beach and it was as close to vacation as work can be.

We went to the adjacent island for some snorkeling and played beach-volleybal another evening. Rooms are reasonably spacious, very bright with full sea-view. The bed and bathroom are good, but

A more interesting atmosphere than most new hotels. The pool is just big enough, but you have the Ocean a few meters away.

The Kunduchi Beach Hotel and Resort Dar Es Salaam overlooks the pristine white sands of Kunduchi beach, just 18km from Dar es Salaam International Airport

This five star hotel was originally built by the Tanzania Tourist Board and opened in 1971, where it soon came recognized as one of the best 100 hotels in the World.

Under the current ownership of the Wellworth Group of Hotels, the Kunduchi has recaptured its past glory, known for its outstanding service and attention to detail.

The Kunduchi Hotel reflects the splendour of a Sultan’s Palace, with its stunning Afro-Arabic design, in the tradition of the history and culture of the Swahili coastline.

Its stylish and spacious 138 rooms and suites are elegantly furnished, all with either a full balcony or private patio from which guests can breakfast at sunrise or candlelight dinner, overlooking the magnificent Indian Ocean.

All rooms have air conditioning, colour TV with satellite channels, 24 hour room service, laundry service, safety deposit box, mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, broadband internet access, international direct dialtelephones, hairdryers, bathrobes and luxurious bathroom amenities.

The Kunduchi Beach Hotel and Resort Dar Es Salaam boasts babysitting services, a shopping arcade, squash and tennis courts, go karting and quad biking at Mashindano Track and Wet n Wild water park, East Africa’s largest water park.

Trips can be organized to Mbudya Island, Makumbusho, where all the traditions and cultures of Tanzania can be found. Bagamoyo, home to the slave trade in years past is a short distance away and the National Museum and Nyumba ya Sanaa are nearby sites of interest
