The Lake Lodge Nakuru in Nakuru Town Kenya The Lake Lodge Nakuru has a media centre with computers, which I used to check in my evening flight just before leaving. The staff was very helpful there and at my request printed the boarding pass in their office's printer. The park itself is full of wildlife. Despite being fenced (due to its proximity to Nakuru town) and too touristy, there are good reasons to include Nakuru in your Kenya itinerary.
In less than one hour, at dusk and just after the rain stopped, I was lucky to see three leopards, two lionesses and two male lions. Among the memorable sightings were also the huge flocks of flamingos, the rare Rotschild giraffes, and both species of rhino - white and black (white rhino sightings are almost guaranteed, but the black rhinos require some patience and luck). There is a hill with an amazing view of the whole park, where you can spot hyraxes and brightly coloured agama lizards in the rocks. Rooms were simple and clean. Ample hot water and good water pressure in the shower. Mosquito nets around the beds. Lake Nakuru Lodge is very nice and comfortable with friendly, helpful staff. Our room was great, spacious and had amazing views. The grounds, garden areas and flowers were stunning. Plenty of seating areas to enjoy the wonderful views. The food was good, lunch was served on a verandah overlooking the views. A guitarist entertained us during dinner which was pleasant.
We wished we had a two night stay here as we would have liked to have used the swimming pool and also go horse riding. We simply ran out of time!The lake was superb, millions of pink flamingos with a white rhino walking along. Great photo opportunities! We saw a silverback jackal and pup, plenty of pelicans, a giraffe, lion (hiding in the bush) more rhinos, zebra, impala and many others.Check rates and availability of this hotel here
