Lake Sopa Lodge Naivasha Lake Sopa Lodge Naivasha had a fantastic group of giraffes on sight that seem to be permanent guests of the hotel Food was good, staff excellent and very helpful, pool clean, sauna was great as well. They have a seemingly well equipped good gym although I wouldn't really know much about that- it looked good though.
At check in we were given cold drinks etc and a few moments to collect our thoughts after a 4 hour drive. We were then shown to our room, on the way we were amazed to see a giraffe feeding on some kind of cactus tree, and he was 1 of 14 that visit the hotel grounds.
Our room was a ground floor suite, 2 double beds, sofa' french doors onto our own patio. Bathroom was huge even had a bath.For some reason I thought upstairs must be better, so asked to be moved, no problem we were in an upstairs room within minutes. Dinner was excellent on both nights and yes you do need an escort after dark, these guys are there to keep you safe there really are hippos outside your room feeding at night, we could hear them and see them. The hotel has its own boat and we went out on the lake for an hour or so, very good.This was far better than I expected

Naivasha is a Masai name given to the area where the resort is located, denoting the characteristics of the lake including size and its tendency to roughness when windy. The history of the area has always been important as it formed the main route of the slave trade from Uganda and the highlands of Kenya, including in 1884, the Scottish explorer Joseph Thompson’s epic journey through Masai land – where he writes in his journals of his time in Naivasha.
