Mara Explorer Maasai Mara Camp

Travel Business

SBI!

From the moment we arrived at Mara Explorer Maasai Mara we were thoroughly impressed. The location is superb - right on the Talek river. Whilst relaxing with a welcome drink we saw Zebra, Waterbutt and a crocodile.

From the veranda of our tent we saw a family of hippos on a daily basis plus at least twenty monkeys making their way through the woods one afternoon.

The tent has everything you need and the beds were possibly the most comfortable beds we had ever slept in. The outdoor bath was a treat and bathing in the evening with the sounds of the animals around you was an experience.

The service, staff and food was excellent. The house wine was so good we never needed to order from the wine list.

We had a regular driver named Joseph who was full of information on the wildlife and was a pleasure to spend time with.

During our time we did a hot air balloon ride which I thoroughly recommend. Through this we met some guests at other camps in the area and as their camps were fenced they said they didn't really feel part of the safari experience.

Whilst at Mara Explorer Maasai Mara is open to the animals which makes the walk to dinner in the evening exciting (a guide does escort you for safety reasons). An excellent camp that we have recommended to everyone. Would definitely go back.

Mara Explorer is a fantastic property that is run by Kenyans at a 5 star level. 10 tents around the Talek River (Best in order 4, 7, 6, 5, 3, 8, 2, 1, 10). All are luxuriously appointed - most with King beds, outdoor Victorian Bath tubs, twin vanity, flush toilet and hot shower. They all have superb views.

The game viewing is unbeatable. Located in the centre of Mara, Explorer is surrounded by more then 6 pride of lion, lots of leopard, few rhino, and loads of plains game.

Service is top notch, food is 5 star (no buffets), and they have brand new vehicles that are spacious and comfy.

Mara Explorer Maasai Mara was established in 2001, situated at the heart of the famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve, the home of diverse wildlife species. The camp is rated as a five star and offers an excellent place for the visitors looking for an experience in the wilderness.

It has got its own airstrip, which ensures easy access to the camp for the guests, since it will take one less than an hour from Nairobi.

Mara Explorer Maasai Mara provides good accommodation facilities for the guests, with well decorated tents and furnished bathrooms with modern twin facilities, a lounge, a library, a swimming pool at the sister camp, an open-air river front dining area, internet services, laundry and valet services among other facilities.

The camp assists the local neighbourhood by engaging in charity work such as building and equipping primary schools and medical clinics.
