_________________________________There are nine cottages at Mbweha Camp Kenya Rift Valley at the moment and we were in a large group so we go 4 of the nine allocated to us.We got cottages Twiga, Rhino, Baboon and waterbuck.
All cottages have a nice lounge outside in the patio with comfortable sofas to relax on.
Rhino and Twiga have an interconnecting door and are the biggest and newest cottages. They are meant for families and have a double bed as well as either 1(twiga) or 2(rhino) single beds. They are ensuite and have a wash basin.
These two cottages are quite away from the rest of the rooms. The minus point is that they are not connected to the solar power system and hence have no power in the middle of the night when the generator is switched off.
Baboon is situated near the path that a lot of other cottages use so try and avoid that one if you want privacy. Its quite cost and compact and meant for a couple.
Waterbuck is also cosy but if you need a nice cosy and romantic cottage i would suggest buffalo as that is away from the other cottages and also has a nice view from the patio.
If you are going to mara from Samburu and need an overnight stop then i would suggest this as an ideal spot.
Mbweha Camp is tucked away in the spectacular vastness of The Great Rift Valley on the private 6400 acre Congreve Conservancy, nestling up against the southern border of Lake Nakuru National Park. From here guests can enjoy the beautiful views of the Eburu and Mau Ranges.Ten charming cottages built of lava stone with thatched makuti roofs blend effortlessly into the surroundings. Each of the cottages feature richly textured African materials, rustic en-suite bathrooms and are set back into vegetation.
Indigenous trees like Candelabra Euphobia and yellow barked Acacia separate each of the cottages ensuring the utmost in privacy. It also means that the natural vegetation of the Conservancy is kept intact, which allows for frequent sightings of resident leopard, zebras, buffalos, eland and dik-dik.
