We arrived at Mpata Safari Club Maasai Mara on day one via a ten seater airplane from Mombasa which was an experience in itself. We then went on our first drive en-route to our lodge.

Within the first half an hour we saw giraffe, elephants and a family of cheetah that came so close to our jeep we felt like reaching out and giving them a stroke (thought better of that though).

We arrived at our lodge and were instantly impressed by the greeting by the staff who supplied us with fresh drinks and showed us our rooms.

The Mpata Safari Club Maasai Mara lodges are situated on an escarpment looking out over the Masai Mara.

The views are fantastic, especially the sunrise. There were two single beds that face the large windows which overlook the Mara. A fully equipped bathroom with twin sinks, shower and toilet, and fridge with mini-bar in the main room.

Holiday vacation at Mpata Safari Club Maasai Mara

The main hotel consists of bar, library and restaurant and all have views over the Mara.

The food here was the best we'd had all holiday. Four course meals with choice of starters and main.

Steaks, chicken, octopus all cooked to perfection. At night time whilst having your meal small buckets of hot charcoal are brought to the table to keep you warm (be advised it does get really cool at night so bring a long sleeve top or fleece, I KID YOU NOT!!, it was blooming cold).

The outdoor pool again has views over the Mara .The overall decor of the Mpata Safari Club Maasai Mara has a modern feel yet keeps the feel of a safari lodge, all with a hint of japanese architecture.

Our stay here was fantastic and would without doubt recommend to other people. The only down side, if there is any, is that the drive up to the camp could, I imagine, be a bit tedious if you were staying here for a long period of time.

Saying that the views when you get to the lodge are well worth it, and you get to see lots of wildlife on the way.
