_______________________________________It's very rare that accommodation matches up to your expecations but Msambweni Beach House and Private Villas Mombasa took our breath away. The site captures the perfectly relaxed atmosphere and you really do feel like you are in someone's private house for a holiday.
We awoke on our first morning to have breakfast served on our enormous balcony (we always got very excited about breakfast!).
The sun arose over the sea and the dhow boats could be seen from the balcony.
There isn't much to do around Msambweni Beach House and Private Villas Mombasa which is perfect for simply reading a book by the pool or by the sea and being served cold drinks. The setting is very sheltered from any beach hawkers so nobody can disturb you.
We did do a snorkling trip to Wasini Island. It takes over an hour on the putt putt boat to get to the island and to return and if like us you have a large swell, it's not too pleasant. The snorkelling itself was fantastic.
Food-wise: at its best, the food (again all-inclusive) is very good --e.g. the lobster, which gave most seafood I've eaten in London a run for its money, and the pizza (which we were only served because I requested it having read the guest book) which is prepared with a DIY choice of toppings and cooked fresh in a stone oven.
They also did an excellent tuna nicoise salad, and an even better octopus salad at lunchtime, and they make good pasta.
This is so totally relaxing - rooms were lovely and spacious. Frederik (the owner, builder and manager) and his team looked after us really well.
They couldn't have done more to make us feel wlecome. It's quite quirky, very private almost like it's your own house and views of the coast dominate. The pool is a big part of the feel. The only negative is that the tide does go out quite far - however when it's in, the sea is beautiful and the snorkelling is brilliant.
The personal attention, eye for detail and inspiring way the family runs the place makes it 'best in class'.
Words cannot express the magic of the place: you really have to spend time in the breathtaking infinity pool, have lunch in the tastefully decorated main house or have lobster served under a flower arch at the pristine beach to really know what makes Msambweni House so special.
Msambweni means the land of the sable Antelope. Msambweni Beach House and Private Villas Mombasa is a quite unspoilt and unique setting on the beach surrounded by 28 acres of natural land. The house offers 700 feet of private beach along a tropical white sandy coastline with palm trees where guests can really feel at one with nature. It stands on a 40 feet high cliff surrounded by a coral wall
Msambweni Beach House and Private Villas Mombasa is luxury uncompromised. It is a family owned and run exclusive house with 3 luxurious suites in the main house, one villa and one luxury tent.
