Location
Nakasongola is bordered by Apac District to the north, Masindi District to the west, Luwero District to the south and Kayunga District to the east. The district comprises three counties, namely:
Kyabujingo County - Kakooge, Kalongo and Kalungi sub counties•Buluuli County - Lwampanga, Wabinyonyi sub counties and Nakasongola Town Council•Budyebo County - Nakitoma, Nabiswera and Lwabiyata sub counties
Overview
Nakasongola was created in 1997. Prior to that it was part of Luwero District. The commission of inquiry into the local government system in 1987 recognized that Nakasongola was too far away from the administrative center of Luwero to be administered directly from there.
Nakasongola suffered from relative neglect due to the distance from the then district headquarters. This became the basis for the creation of Nakasongola District in 1997. The district covers 4,909 square kilometres (1,895 sq mi) of which 4.6% is permanent wetland.
Population
The 2002 population of the district was 125,297 people, of whom 62,312 (49.7%) were femala and 62,985 (50.3%) were males. The growth rate of the population in Uganda has averaged 3.2% during the first decade of the 2000s. Given those statistics, it is estimated that the population of Nakasongola in 2009, is approximately 156,207.
Language
The main languages spoken in the district are Luganda and Luluuri. English is spoken in the major urban centers.

Agriculture is one of the major activities with emphasis on food crops, including:

•Millet
