_________________________________Learn Why Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania is the best place to see all the Big 5 in Africa. Its the best place you can have a chance to see all the all shy animals of Africa. On this Page we will show you all you need to know about Ngorongoro in Tanzania
Not far from Mt. Kilimanjaro, the Ngorongoro area in Tanzania formed after the implosion of a gigantic, three-million-year-old volcano. Today, the crater encompasses an area as big as the island of Crete, filled with fertile lands and water sources that encourage a huge array of wildlife to gather here. Because of this, the Ngorongoro Tanzania Crater is one of the most interesting locations in East Africa and has many things to do including going on safari, hiking, or guided drives. Including the crater, but expanding beyond it as well, is the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (this is even encompassed in the much larger Serengeti National Park), where there are even more activities to explore.
Like nearby Kenya, Tanzania is a prime location for the traditional East African experience - the safari. Going on an Ngorongoro safari is a unique experience, even within Africa, as the most dense population of animals on the entire continent is found here. The Ngorongoro Tanzania Crater is also one of the few places where black rhinos still flourish and breed in the wild, and just about every other well-known animal in Africa is present here as well including lions, wildebeest, and zebras. To help preserve the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, safaris are limited to one per day per vehicle, but this still allows time enough for ample exploration. The Ngorongoro Crater Lodge offers safaris led by expert rangers who are able to take you to common animal sites.
Aside from an Ngorongoro safari, the wider Ngorongoro Conservation Area outside of the crater offers other ways to experience this amazing area and see some of its culture. Native to the region are Maasai - a tribe known for herding cattle, tall physiques, and high leaps during dance - and the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge offers tours to a Maasai family village. Other activities based out of the lodge guided drives, guided walks, bird watching tours, a walk on the crater rim, or trips to other nearby Tanzanian locations such as Olduvai Gorge, where the earliest human footprints and many early human fossils were found.
The Ngorongoro Crater Lodge itself emphasizes the culture of this area as well as provides an excellent place of lodging. Suites shaped after Maasai dwellings are well-furnished in hard woods, silks, and ornate touches, but by far best of all is that each suite has a deck overlooking the crater. Suites are organized into smaller camps for added privacy and each camp has a sitting and dining area, outdoor dining, and decks for further viewing. Few experiences will ever encompass such a breathtaking adventure as a visit to Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania. Whether by safari, a walk, a drive, or even from your lodge deck, the natural beauty here is incredible and beyond compare.
