It is difficult to imagine that any place else could surpass Ocean Paradise Resort Zanzibar's excellent staff and lovely accommodations for the money.

As we approached the road where the hotel as situated, we were slightly hesitant, but as soon as we arrived at the resort, we were struck by the beautiful plants and trees along the driveway and the gorgeous reception area.

On arrival we were warmly greeted with refreshing towels and a cocktail, which was very welcome! The staff were all very friendly and could not do enough for us.

Our rooms were all spotless and every day flower petals would be laid out on the bed and our towels would be transformed into swans or hearts

The swimming pool was great, very clean and luckily not too busy; we enjoyed many drinks at the pool bar, which was good fun.

The kids club offered may activities which people of all ages could participate in. Badminton was a very popular activity and so was the weaving, as they made hats and bags out of the palm tree leaves.

The food was excellent. The choice was fantastic and the puddings were the best I've seen at a resort like this.

Every evening there was a different theme, such as Mediterranean, or International, but there was always something for everyone.

The fruit especially stood out and it was mango season when we visited and they were outstanding! While you ate, a live band played who were always brilliant.

Most evenings the staff would dance around the tables with a birthday cake for someone which was always entertaining.

After dinner there was usually entertainment on the beach. We saw a Masai dance, African dancing, acrobatics and belly dancing.

All of which were entertaining and tried to get the audience involved. There was also a film that played every evening and a disco.

Every day between four and five was tea and cake hour. Which allowed us to help ourselves to tea or coffee and have something to eat, such as cake or pancakes.

Between six and seven was 'happy hour' where you could buy the cocktail of the day for half price, there was always a different cocktail and they were always very good!

We took several tours when we were at the resort. We visited the spice farm and the colobus monkeys and some of our group took a quad biking tour around a local village, all of these tours were amazing.

The Ocean Paradise Resort Zanzibar staff always organised these tours for us very easily and the cars were always air conditioned and we were always given a bottle of water.

On Sunday, we had champagne and music played at breakfast which was a nice surprise, when we asked why the waiter said 'because it was Sunday!'.

There were quite a lot of steps to walk up to get to the reception, breakfast and the happy hour bar. However the hotel staff were more than happy to send a buggy to collect you from your room, if you had trouble.

This was always fun as you got to see a different side to the hotel, where some of the staff lived and the buggy drivers were always very friendly.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ocean Paradise Resort Zanzibar and would love to go back someday!
