Pinewood Village Beach Resort Ukunda We stayed at Pinewood Village Beach Resort Ukunda during during our holiday in Kenya and couldn't have asked for more. It was everything we expected and more. The staff are one of the best assets this hotel has and if you trust them with the respect they deserve they will pay you back ten times over. Everything was clean, well cared for, the beach and gardens spotless. The monkeys added to our amusement (especially the cheeky one that knocked on our patio door!)
Everyone has gushed about this hotel so I won't carry on much. It is the last hotel heading south and is quite far but the drive there from the ferry is an adventure in and of itself. Just ask your driver to stock up on drinking water after leaving the airport and you'll be fine. The rooms are as they say they are and it's excellent for families, in that that you can rent a block building all to yourselves. The suites are incredibly large and have a nice lounge area outside for sundowners if you wish. We never used the chefs and opted for lovely dinners in the main dining hall. A typical evening was spent on the verandah area of the dining room, having a cocktail and surfing the web thanks to their free wireless on offer! Hotel rooms: 38There are nineteen blocks of two rooms each, all located above the one bedroom suites. The rooms are spacious with en-suite bathrooms and a balcony. The bedrooms have air-conditioning, ceiling fans and mosquito nets. Breakfast and Dinner are served in the Bahari Restaurant, lunch at the Tamu snack grill or Jahazi Bistro. The rooms overlook the gardens and neighbouring woodland teaming with birds and monkeys. Two of our rooms are sea facing rooms and attract a supplement charge.
Suites: 18Our suites include a kitchen, a living / dining area with a choice of meal plans and a covered veranda. Meal plan - you can either eat at the restaurant/bistro or we can organize a personal chef who will prepare your dinner in your suite from a large selection of menus. All suites overlook the gardens and the neighboring woodland teaming with monkeys and birds. Executive suites: 2 The two executive suites are sea facing, and have superior finishing. The bathrooms are larger with bath tubs and double showers. Activities:- In-house facilities include attractive swimming pool, swim-up pool bar ,Beach Deck, “Tamu” Snack Grill, "Peponi" Beach bar and Restaurant, “Jahazi” Bar and Bistro, “Bahari” Restaurant, Aqualand Watersport Centre, tennis court, squash court, “Zawadi” Boutique, Beauty Salon and conference facilities. In addition to communications facilities, laundry and housekeeping, there is a tours, safaris and excursions service. Weddings:- Special wedding arrangements can also be made. Access:- Access to the rest of the country and International airport facilities are located in by road via Mombasa ( 40 km ) and internal flights to game parks are available from Ukunda only 7km away.
