Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel Zanzibar is about half 45 minutes drive from the airport and away from the usual tourist type hotels. Its rare to come across a hotel that really cares and treats you like you deserve rather than just a number or a tourist. Having travelled the East Africa extensively I have yet to find a hotel where the management and staff actually care and interact with the guests and take very good care of you.
The hotel itself is full of character so if you want genuine rather than false here it is. 
Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel Zanzibar is beautiful and tranquil. The area is made up of small spots and places giving you a sense of privacy.
The crystal clean pool is beautiful sited over the ocean, just in reach of the nice staff bringing you a cold glass of white wine. The lodges are of good standard, with very comfortable beds, and nice bathrooms.The in house restaurant deserves an own recommendation as it has the best and freshest sea food dishes I’ve tasted in a long time. Although I prefer beer in the heat, I also noticed the wine map had plenty of good European wines. This restaurant is really good, and choices of raw material and composition suggest a real chef. The staff was friendly and service minded, even made an effort learning your name. 
If you like jogging or walking trips the area had good facilities before you enjoy a cold beer by the pool after a swim in the azure blue ocean. The location of the hotel is perfect, nestled away from the busy commercial Hotels the hotel is secluded and offers miles of untouched beautiful beaches. Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel Zanzibar Hotel Rooms are so well equipped and by far much better than we expected.The rooms are air conditioned and have amazingly big beds with Mosquito Nets and are very tastefully decorated.The bathrooms are very spacious and the attention to detail is fantastic. Ras Nungwi's table is without parallel offering the freshest of fresh ingredients.The cuisine is subtly flavoured with the spices from Zanzibar and the fruits are exotic, sweet and succulent. I guess it would not be extravagant to mention the seafood barbecue with fresh prawns, octopus,snapper and Lobster tails served with beautifully prepared salads and desserts.
A wonderful selection for breakfast, lunch and Dinner and a great selection for vegetarians.We were in Paradise.The waitering and bar staff were so friendly and efficient. We loved the variety of cocktails and a sundowner at the beach bar was a perfect way to end your day on the beach with a Ras Nungwi Breeze( Bacardi, Pineapple juice and Grenadine) packed with crushed Ice and a slice of fresh pineapple. Honestly when I say your every need is attended to this is no exageration, we asked our beach host what sweet cool drink he would suggest during the afternoon and the most delicious fresh Mango Milkshake was recommended and served with homemade cookies still warm from the oven.....a real treat
Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel Zanzibar did not feel like a hotel but more like a luxury safari lodge.The hotel offers a small gift shop , a small library, kayaking and a sunset dhow cruise. The diving was the best we have ever experienced and the diving instructor were so professional and really created an experience we will never forget. Diving on Mnemba is a must and truly the most incredible experience as we got to swim with dolphins and turtles.Anemone tube worms, hard and soft corals thriving with clown fish, butterfly fish, angel emperor fish, napoleon ras, and much, much more. Massive beds of hard and soft coral varieties, completely clouded by huge schools of snapper fish, jack fish, yellow fin tuna, sail fish, rainbow runners, barracuda, and the dolphins. The underwater landscape is an array of colour and fantastic visibility.
The frontage of the hotel is protected by a large coral reef which encircles the whole island. An ideal location for all forms of watersport or merely relaxing in the temperate water while soaking up the equatorial sun. All rooms and chalets at Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel Zanzibar are positioned to maximize the panoramic sea views and cool island breezes. Individually furnished with hand-crafted four-poster beds and indigenous carved doors, all rooms are en-suite with ceiling fans and balcony frontage. Mosquito nets over all beds ensure a peaceful night's rest. In designing Ras Nungwi, great attention has been paid to detail. Natural materials have been used wherever possible, including makuti (palm-leaf) roofing over all structures, creating the feeling of freedom that is only possible in an open-air environment.
