Sentrim Lodge Samburu Sentrim Lodge Samburu is located in the Samburu game reserve of north central Kenya.This lodge is positioned on the north bank of the Ewaso Ngiro river, close to the western gate. \
There appeared to be around 40 tented rooms, all overlooking the river. Central blockwork buildings house reception, bar and restaurant, with a pool to one side.
Amazing experience at Sentrim. Samburu! Each of the tents is built on top of a wooden platform, with a full feature bathroom attached. Really well decorated inside, and with a balcony facing the Uaso Nyiro river. This is way better than a standard lodge. Very cool at night, besides being just by the river. On the first night there was a surprise thunderstorm, and you could feel the wind passing through the tent - quite scary at first but great! After that a peaceful night sleep, with no problems from heat or insects. Suprisingly I was the only guest on my first night there - the camp was quite new and yet not too publicized beforeFood was great and varied, I was indeed surprised with the variety given the low occupation rate. The road from Sentrim to the central section of Samburu was always full of dik-dik, vultured guineafowl, helmeted guineafowl, spurfowl and sometimes elephants. On one morning I saw a troop of over 100 baboons just after the gate of Sentrim Camp. The giraffes and zebras seem to prefer the central area of the reserve. Samburu and Buffalo Springs are great reserves, one of the few places where you can see beautiful species such as Reticulated Giraffes, Grevy Zebras, Gerenuk, Somali Blue Ostriches and Oryx - quite a different fauna from Mara and Serengeti!
