_______________________________________We spent 2 nights at Severin Safari Camp Tsavo and would have liked to have had another night. We stayed in one of the bigger suites with the adjoining tent which was definitely worth it and at a minimal extra cost. It has a nice bath as well as shower.
There are two, one is called Kibo suite which is further from the camp and the other Mzwena (22 and 21) which was nearer to the restaurant and pool area. We stayed in Mzwena and would definitely recommend this suite. I actually thought this camp was in Tsavo West and not East!?
Our tent was lovely with a fantastic bathroom, lots of space and fab lower deck and 1st floor terrace with sun loungers. The view was over the park and we had Impala around our tent after sunset along with Giraffe and Wart Hog. There is nothing negative to say about the rooms.
You are generally escorted to and from your rooms at night and there are also torches available in your room. Although some may see this as a tourist attraction, one must remember you are in an open Game Park and whilst you feel safe, there are wild animals about and accidents do happen.
One of the other guests said they had Hippo outside their tent one night, and you do not want to bump into one of these in the dark!
The pool was fantastic and relaxing and the main draw for Severin Safari Camp Tsavo . After spending several great days in the Mara we were happy to do minimal game spotting and enjoy a rest by the pool and have well priced massages in the spa centre.
The weather was scorching! We did have a drive to Mzima Springs and see the hippos, crocs and get up close and personal with several different monkey species.
Compared to the Mara and Samburu I was disappointed by the lack of wildlife, mainly due to it being so bushy and dry that you can't see much at all when driving around the park. Due to the red sand and earth it seems that many of the animals have a darker and dirtier coat than elswhere in Kenya.
Also, the male lions are famous for having no mane! This lodge was a stopping point for us from a long drive from the Mara to then stay with friends in Vipingo, nr Mombasa on the coast.
The Severin Safari Camp Tsavo with swiss management has twenty, unique octagonal tents as well as the Kibo suit equipped with a luxurious bath tub andprivate viewing terrace. The main building which overlooks the lit up waterhole, consists of a reception with international telephone facility, "Safari Boutique", the "Out of Africa restaurant" with lounge and "Thorn tree Bar"
The evening camp fire creates the Out of Africa touch for that away from it all the feeling. Each tent has hot and cold water, shower and separate toilet and bidet facilities. The comfortable bed with duvet and mosquito net, guarantees a luxurious night's sleep in the bush.
Early morning coffee or tea is served to your tent and in the evening a special tent service is available to your private veranda for ice cold drinks.
