Tembo House Zanzibar
Tembo House Zanzibar is a Superb small hotel in an ideal position for exploring StoneTown. Ok, our room in the old part was a bit small - but how long do you spend in a bedroom anyway.We had a balcony overlooking the pool with a side view of the sea. The decor reminded me of the 'colonial' film settings with a bathroom and shower to match.
The four poster beds with excellent mosquito nets were very comfortable. Bedding and towels were changed every day and when the maids came for the 'turndown' service, they closed the shutters and gave the mossie nets a spray. The breakfasts were good. There was cornflakes, porridge, fruit of many varieties, eggs done to order as omelette, scrambled and fried, and various bread/toast and cakes. Breakfast was taken on the terrace on the beach. The Zanzibar pineapples are to die for!! The pool is a god send as we were there at a hot and humid time. You could just dive in after a long tiring day out. Pool towels were provided but they did run out of them on one evening - we just used the room towels - not a problem. The beach is ok for relaxing for a short while. Best for people watching, either early morning when daily exercises seem to be the order of the day, or, early evening when the local children/youths come down to play and swim.
