Tiplikwani Mara Camp Maasai Mara

Travel Business

SBI!

Tiplikwani Mara Camp Maasai Mara is pretty new and nicely sited on a bend in a river directly across from the Masai Mara game reserve. The tents were as large and luxurious as many hotel rooms, as were the en suite bathrooms.

Lots of towels, soaps, robes and slippers were provided. Turn down service every night with hot water bottles placed in the bed--a nice touch.

Manager and staff were friendly and accommodating. Masai tribesmen were employed to accompany guests to and from dinner after dark and there was a wonderful Masai naturalist who has traveled extensively as a Masai ambassador through a program sponsored by the UN.

Meals were served in a beautiful open air dining/lounge area.

Electricity (and hot water for showers, etc.) were amply available in the morning and evenings until 11.

Birdsong in the mornings was lovely--more than I've ever heard anywhere. Baboons, elephants and other wildlife made appearances directly across the river in the preserve.

Tiplikwani Mara Camp Maasai Mara is situated by the Talek River in Masai Mara. From your "tent" you will look over the river into the Masai Mara.

So it is up to your own good fortune whether you see animals roaming around across from your balcony.

We had a tribe of Baboons on our last morning but were informed by the management at Tilipikwani that they have even seen a pride of lions walking leisurely past.

I was informed it is perfectly safe as the animals do not cross the river into the camp. In any case they have Masai guards stationed at strategic intervals to ensure total guest safety.

The tents are at Tiplikwani Mara Camp Maasai Mara are large, spacious and well appointed. The beds must be the most comfortable in East Africa.

The bathrooms have both a large bath tub as well as a rain shower. There are two basins in the bathrooms. Bedroom flooring is wooden and very pleasant to walk on. There is no airconditioning but this is really not necessary with the cool to cold Masai Mara breeze blowing through.

The management staff are most friendly and informative and the general staff eager to please. Our guide, Dee, was charming and knowledgeable. We totally enjoyed ourselves

Tiplikwani Mara Camp Maasai Mara is set on the banks of the Talek River overlooking the Mara plains, giving visitors one of the most spectacular views available.

The camp is a five hour drive from Nairobi and a 25 minute drive from the nearest airstrip - Olkiombo. SafariLink and Air Kenya airlines operate two schedule flights a day from Nairobi to Masai Mara

The 20 luxury insect proof tents lure discerning travelers by the cozy atmosphere and beautiful surroundings they offer. Each en-suite tent is equipped with all amenities and has its own terrace.

Two large adjoining tents sharing a common verandah provide the most ideal setting for families. The ensuite bath-rooms are fitted with double wash basins, hot and cold running water, a flushing toilet and rain shower.

True ambiance is reflected in the dining area and lounge area , providing the comfort and protection of a permanent building. The open-sided design affords a unique, magical view across the river to the rolling plains dotted with game.

Enjoy an al-fresco breakfast or wind down with a glass of wine at the camp fire watching the spectacular sunset. Dining at Tiplikwani Mara Camp Maasai Mara is also a feast for the senses bringing international and local flavors together under the watch of carefully trained, attentive staff.
