Uganda is a pioneer in business news Uganda the liberalisation of the media in Africa. Private radio and TV have mushroomed since the government loosened controls in 1993. By late 2008 the central region around Kampala was home to more than 40 FM radio stations and 10 TV stations. Rural radio stations serve various ethnic groups and there is a cluster of faith-based radios.
But the state sometimes criticizes the conduct of private broadcasters especially those who publish Uganda news monitor newspaper. Some have been accused of raising ethnic tensions and of being negative in their reporting.
Radio is the most popular medium. Public UBC Radio can be heard across the country in English and vernacular languages. BBC World Service is widely available on FM (101.3 in Kampala), and Radio France Internationale broadcasts on FM in the capital.
Although the print media like the New Vision Uganda, Uganda news Monitor and others, Uganda Newspapers are led by the state-owned New Vision newspaper, it enjoys considerable independence and often publishes articles which criticise the government
Daily news Papers
The longest established, and most highly regarded, Ugandan newspaper, is probably 'The New Vision' It started with the current government of Uganda. However it is an excellent journal that maintains high quality reporting standards.
Popular Tabloid
At the other end of the spectrum, the nations best known 'sports and gossip' tabloid is probably the long established “Red Pepper” If you want to know what is happening for the Ugandan stars in any field this is a good choice, but don't expect to find too much real 'news' of consequence in this publication.

Aimed a slightly more mainstream readership than New vision the Uganda’s Leading Daily “The Monitor” is a popular choice with many Ugandans especially those who want news that oppose the government.
